If you have been following us for a while now, you may have noticed that cinnamon is a favourite ingredient of ours. It’s a sweet but powerful spice which pairs well with many flavours, and it’s often a favourite go-to in the kitchen. Along with it’s comforting aroma and taste, did you know this beloved spice also boasts impressive health benefits?

  1. First off, it’s one of the top 10 foods in the world for antioxidant power. It has over 30 different antioxidant compounds in one serving, beating out oregano and even garlic. The different antioxidants in cinnamon help offset free radicals in the body, and also protects the heart from plaque build up.
  2. Speaking of the heart, cinnamon health benefits also aid the circulatory system by reducing high blood pressure and lowering cholesterol. It also increases circulation to the body, which improves tissue repair and speeds up healing.
  3. Cinnamon health benefits also include being a fantastic aid to those with diabetes as it helps balance blood sugar levels, which reduces insulin spikes. In one study, cinnamon was found as effective as diabetes medication in balancing blood sugar levels.

Be generous with sprinkling cinnamon over top of your meals and incorporating it into your daily routine.
