Grape Pear Water Kefir Soda

Grape Pear Water Kefir Soda

This year, the pear trees on our farm are overloaded with fruit. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, if there is a prolific amount of pears in summer, there will be lots of snow that winter. We’ll wait and see if the pear fortune teller is right. ;–) Our concord grapes are just as prolific as the pears so we’ve combined them for this week’s Grape Pear Water Kefir Soda recipe. We pride ourselves in sharing what’s in season on the farm and this week we’re going for a mash-up. They’re spectacular together.

Makes: about 4 cups

INGREDIENTS:

4 cups first ferment water kefir

1/2 cup concord grapes lightly mulled or 1/4 cup Welch’s grape juice

1/2 cup diced pear lightly mulled or 1/4 cup pear juice

INSTRUCTIONS:

Make the first ferment and leave the jar in a warm place for 24-48 hours.

Strain the grains and add the ingredients to the swivel top bottle with the first ferment water kefir.

Seal the bottle and leave the grape pear mixture in a warm place for 24 hours for the second ferment.

Open slowly, strain and enjoy!
