Coffee Water Kefir Soda Recipe
Wake up call! Here’s a pick-me-up drink with caffeine and probiotics all in one glass. This coffee kefir soda drink is light, refreshing and perfect served on ice.
COFFEE KEFIR SODA
MAKES: about 4 cups
4 cups first ferment
3 shots or 3/4 c. espresso, cooled to room temp.
- Make the first ferment and leave the jar in a warm place for 24-48 hours.
- Strain the grains and add the espresso to the swivel top bottle with the first ferment water kefir.
- Seal up the swivel top bottle and leave it in a warm place for 24 hours for the second ferment.
- Open slowly, strain and enjoy!
NEED TO KNOW:
Increase espresso amount if you really like a stronger coffee flavour.
Add 1 tsp vanilla or a shot of coffee flavouring for a boost.
It may take a bit longer than usual for the fizz to build because there is no added sugar in the second ferment.
