Wake up call! Here’s a pick-me-up drink with caffeine and probiotics all in one glass. This cold brew coffee water kefir soda drink is light, refreshing, low sugar and perfect served on ice.
COFFEE KEFIR SODA
MAKES: about 4 cups
4 cups first ferment water kefir
3 shots or 3/4 c. espresso, cooled to room temp.
- Make the first ferment and leave the jar in a warm place for 24-48 hours.
- Strain the grains and add the espresso to the swivel top bottle with the first ferment water kefir.
- Seal up the swivel top bottle and leave it in a warm place for 24 hours for the second ferment.
- Open slowly, strain and enjoy!
NEED TO KNOW:
Increase espresso amount if you really like a stronger coffee flavour.
Add 1 tsp vanilla or a shot of coffee flavouring for a boost.
It may take a bit longer than usual for the fizz to build because there is no added sugar in the second ferment.
