Happy Camper Water Kefir First Ferment Smoothie

This recipe features three mighty ingredients to help turn you into a Happy Camper. Strawberries have natural anti-inflammatory properties, while oranges are full of vitamin C. Combined with water kefir first ferment this smoothie recipe is a unique twist on your morning breakfast.


MAKES: about 2 cups


Juice and pulp of one orange

3 strawberries diced

1 cup spinach

2-3 medium sized basil leaves

1 tablespoon grated ginger

1.5 cup first ferment water kefir

Optional- 1 scoop of protein powder and/or 1 tablespoon of raw organic honey


  • Make the first ferment and leave the jar in a warm place for 24-48 hours.
  • Strain the grains, and measure out 1/2 cup of first ferment for the smoothie recipe. First ferment can be kept in the fridge for up to 14 days, or you can move on to the second ferment to flavour and carbonate it.
  • Combine all the ingredients and blend for about 30 seconds.
  • Pour into a glass and enjoy!
