February flus and colds are pretty much a given in Canada.
I have some great water kefir elixir recipes to share with you this month to help relieve and shorten the duration of your symptoms and build your immunity.
This week I want to share with you what my counter looks like in February.
Inevitably someone gets sick in my house and I have an arsenal of immunity building items that I pump into my family.
I personally start taking a lot of this stuff the minute I feel something coming on and typically I am able to ward bugs off.
I also stay strong in my mind with the mantra
– I’m going to get YOU before you get ME –
and it actually works!
My dear friends ask me for this list every year so I thought it would be something you might be interested in.
Here it is…
For a sore throat just starting, I fight it off by sucking on Zinc lozenges, taking mega doses of vitamin C, adding Emergen C to my water bottle, gargling with Himalayan pink salt and Listerine every time I go to the washroom and spraying my throat with colloidal silver.
If the sickness starts to progress, I begin to take some Echinacea, oil of oregano and Cold FX three times a day.
Once it is too far gone, all I can do is add things that will shorten the duration like drinking ginger, lemon, cayenne and honey tea, chicken in a mug and taking tablespoons of garlic syrup.
The Nasty Chest Cough
One of the colds going around our town right now has a horrible chest cough component with it.
Eucalyptus and mint essential oils in your diffuser help with the coughing and immunity boosting.
Buckleys is honestly the best for relieving coughs, Fisherman Friends as lozenges and rubbing Vicks on your feet and putting on socks makes for less coughing in the night.
Respiractin is awesome for breaking up chest congestion as well.
Drinking water kefir is an excellent choice during a cold or flu.

Here is this week’s COUGH BUSTER ELIXIR
PINEAPPLE CAYENNE SAGE
WATER KEFIR SODA RECIPE
Make the first ferment and leave the jar in a warm place for 24-48 hours.
Strain the grains and add the following to your second ferment.
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 tsp cayenne
5 leaves sage
Seal up the green swivel top bottle and leave it in a warm place for 24 hours for the second ferment.
Open slowly!!! Pineapple juice makes water kefir very volatile.
Checking the bottle before 24 hours is highly recommended.
This refreshing soda will give your body a big boost of vitamin C, over 30 billion LIVE probiotics, magnesium, B vitamins, folate, vitamin K, electrolytes and enzymes.
Drinking pineapple juice helps soothe sore throats and aids the body to expel mucous. The bromelain present in pineapple helps to calm coughs. Cayenne is also excellent for helping expel mucous and Sage is effective in the treatment of inflamed throat and tonsils.
