The Probiotic Benefits of Water Kefir Vinegar

Vinegar is a traditional kitchen staple with uses from cleaning to facial care. It contains acetic acid, which is produced when something containing sugar is fermented too long and becomes sour. In fact, the origin of the word vinegar is “vin aigre” which means sour wine in French. Water kefir that has fermented too long can result in the presence of vinegar, too.

Use your over-fermented water kefir vinegar in a salad dressing or drink it as a gut tonic. The presence of acetic acid may help with digestion because it encourages the body to create pepsin, a digestive enzyme that breaks down protein. Before consuming a rich meal, drink a glass of water with 2 tablespoons of this vinegar. It may help promote quicker digestion and provide you with over 30 billion live probiotics.

Consuming water kefir vinegar can also help control blood sugar levels by preventing blood sugar spikes after meals containing a lot of carbohydrates. For some people, it helps with weight loss, as it promotes the feeling of fullness which leads to less snacking throughout the day. Regularly eating healthy salads with a water kefir salad dressing will help give your body a boost from the vinegar.
