Fermented Oat Milk
Share
Have you tried oat milk before? We love this hardy milk, plus all the amazing probiotic benefits of fermenting it. You can use water kefir grains to ferment all your favourite non-dairy milks.
INGREDIENTS:
4 cups of oat milk (we love Earth’s Own)
1/4 cup water kefir grains
Brewing jar with lid
Wooden spoon
DIRECTIONS:
Pour oat milk into your brewing jar, and add the 1/4 cup of water kefir grains straight into the milk.
Mix with a wooden spoon, and place the jar somewhere with consistent heat for 24-48 hours for the first ferment. Make sure the lid is on, but not fastened.
After the first ferment, remove the grains by straining them. Give them a good rinse under running water, and return them to dormancy.
Keep fermented oat milk in the fridge for up to a week. Some separation may occur, which is normal. Simply mix it thoroughly before serving.
Adding a 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla is a nice addition.
