Drinking pineapple juice can help soothe a sore throat and aids the body to expel mucous. The bromelain present in pineapple helps to calm coughs. Cayenne is also excellent for helping expel mucous and sage is effective in the treatment of inflamed throat and tonsils.
PINEAPPLE CAYENNE SAGE RECIPE
MAKES: about 4 cups
INGREDIENTS:
4 cups first ferment
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 tsp cayenne
5 leaves sage
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Make the first ferment and leave the jar in a warm place for 24-48 hours.
- Strain the grains and add the ingredients to the swivel top bottle with the first ferment water kefir.
- Seal up the swivel top bottle and leave it in a warm place for 24 hours for the second ferment.
- Open slowly, strain and enjoy!
NEED TO KNOW:
Open very slowly! Pineapple juice makes water kefir very volatile.
Checking the bottle every 8 hours is highly recommended.
