Italian plums are my absolute favourite plum. They’re juicy, sweet, perfectly portable, and just the right size for filling your pockets so you can snack on them throughout the day. And yes, I really do that, don't we all?

We had an Italian plum tree in our front yard when I was growing up, and I would literally sit in the branches and eat the plums right off the tree. I loved climbing trees. I was such a tomboy, and my mother used to cry because I refused to wear dresses.

Some people may have called me bossy, but all that strong-willed determination came in handy. It helped shape me into the businesswoman I am today, still determined as h*ll and building a successful company from the middle of nowhere.

This Plum Cardamom Water Kefir Soda brings those childhood memories together in a refreshing fermented drink. Ripe Italian plums give the water kefir a beautiful rosy colour and naturally sweet, juicy flavour. Cardamom adds a warm, fragrant note that makes the soda feel just a little cozier as we move into fall.

Why You’ll Love This Plum Cardamom Water Kefir Soda

This homemade water kefir recipe is fruity without being overly sweet. The cardamom balances the richness of the plums and gives the soda a gently spiced finish.

It is also a delicious way to enjoy your daily water kefir and make the most of Italian plums while they are in season. The result is naturally probiotic-rich, beautifully coloured, and especially refreshing when served cold.
