Get to Know: Afterglow

Afterglow is our detox flavouring infusion. It is formulated to nourish and cleanse the body. The main ingredients are nettle, dandelion root, lemongrass, peppermint and dried apple.

Why Use Our Infusions?

With all-natural organic ingredients, our infusions are here to make flavouring your kombucha and water kefir easier. They also infuse your water kefir or kombucha with the healing properties of herbs. Keep reading to learn more about each of these powerful herbs.

Nettles

Nettles are used in herbal remedies for many reasons, including pain management, blood sugar regulation and detoxification. The fresh plant is known to cause a rash and pain when touched, the dried version is harmless and beneficial. We use dried nettles in the Afterglow Flavouring Infusion because they act as a diuretic, flushing the body of toxins. Nettles can also soothe skin conditions, like acne.

Dandelion Root

Dandelion root is the second detoxifying ingredient in the Afterglow infusion. It is very effective in supporting liver function. Being bitter it increases digestive juices in the intestines. Why does this matter? When the secretion of digestive juices increase, more toxins are broken down. Dandelion root is also an antioxidant, so it helps to heal and protect the liver.

Lemongrass and Peppermint

Fragrant lemongrass and invigorating peppermint give Afterglow, its cool and refreshing taste. Peppermint has many health benefits, read more about it here. Two primary functions of pepper(MINT) are to alleviate upset stomachs and increase mental awareness. Lemongrass is highly aromatic and is used as a balancing herb in our recipe. It is most commonly used in Asian cooking.

Finishing the Flavour

For a touch of natural sweetness we add dried, organic apple which helps to balance and round out the flavour of Afterglow.
