Coconut Water Kefir Smoothie Recipe

Water kefir grains can be used to ferment coconut water which is a low sugar alternative to the juice you would typically add to a smoothie. Try this hydrating coconut water kefir smoothie to boost your body with probiotics.
Coconut Water Kefir Smoothie
MAKES: about 2.5 cups
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup watermelon (freeze it first if you want your smoothie to be extra slushy)
1.5 cups first ferment coconut water kefir
1/2 cup cucumber and/or 3-4 fresh strawberries
1 cup fresh spinach
Sprig of mint or basil
1 teaspoon honey
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Make your first ferment coconut water kefir.
- Strain the grains, and measure out 1/2 cup of first ferment for the smoothie recipe. First ferment can be kept in the fridge for up to 14 days, or you can move on to the second ferment to flavour and carbonate it.
- Add all ingredients to a highspeed blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass, and enjoy!
