Get to Know: Afterglow Flavouring Infusion

Leeza Zurwick

Afterglow is our detox flavouring infusion. Formulated to nourish and cleanse the body, it features nettle, dandelion root, lemongrass, peppermint and dried apple. With all-natural organic ingredients, our infusions are here to help make flavouring your kombucha and water kefir easier (and more delicious!) than ever.

Nettles are used in herbal medicine for many reasons, including pain management, blood sugar regulation and detoxification. Although the fresh plant can cause a rash and pain when touched, the dried version is completely harmless and incredibly beneficial. We chose to use nettles in the Afterglow Flavouring Infusion for their ability to act as a diuretic and flush the body of toxins. Nettles also are known to soothe skin conditions, like acne.

Dandelion root is another detoxifying element in Afterglow. Especially effective in supporting the liver, dandelion root is a bitter ingredient which increases the secretion of digestive juices in the intestines. When that happens, it helps break down toxins that are otherwise unable to be processed by the body. Dandelion root is also high in antioxidants, which help heal and protect the liver from damage.

Fragrant lemongrass and invigorating peppermint are used to flavour Afterglow and give it it’s cooling taste. Peppermint has been a long-standing herb that helps alleviate stomach upset, and also increase mental awareness. Lemongrass is highly aromatic, balancing culinary herb found commonly in Asian cooking. Dried, organic apple is added for a touch of natural sweetness.
